Robyn

Robyn has not yet become a household name in the US but her music has graced the likes of hit series Gossip Girl where Robyn had a major comeback on the 'War at the Roses' episode singing 'Hang with Me' in the background of Blair Waldorf's birthday party. Her hit 'Dancing on my Own' played as Chuck & Blair made up on Blair's piano.

We first heard Robyn when 'Show Me Love' hit the airwaves in 1997 from her hit album Robyn is Here. The album made the Billboard 200 Albums of the Year Chart in 1998 & made the Billboard Hot 100 Songs of the Year Chart in 1997 & 1998. 'Do You Know (What it Takes)'  was her first top ten single in the United States.

So after 14 years where does Robyn stand now? Her hits from Body Talk pt 1, 2, & 3 have got our attention. She made a point to stop in Houston where I had the privilege of meeting her. She's sweet, a tiny little thing and soft spoken. On stage she is completely different giving off a 'I may be little but I pack a punch' vibe.

April 13 Robyn will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live and continue on from there to the Cosmopolitan Casino
in Las Vegas April 14. She'll kick off the Teenage Dream Tour with Katy Perry in Georgia June 7!

Robyn performed at Houston's Warehouse Live on Saturday night with Natalia Kills & Diamond Rings. She put on a great performance & was gracious to her Houston fans taking the time to sign autographs & take pictures after her performance. Houston was the last city on the list for her Body Talk tour.

Robyn gave an energy packed performance constantly jumping and dancing around in platforms that put the Spice Girls to shame. Her zip up worn over her tank mocked a 3D rib cage. Her leggings mocked jeans, but not quite jeggings...topped with jean pockets that hung down from a belt worn around her hips. Her fashion was definitely unique and she delivered quite the performance. Her blonde locks still remained with her signature platinum pixie cut that reminded me of the Robyn is Here album I owned in 6th grade.

Robyn was gracious to her Houston fans whom waited outside for 2 hours in the cold to sneak a peek at the Sweedish native. She signed autographs & took pictures with the remaining crowd as her manager reminded her of the time and scurried her on to the tour bus. She waved back at us thanking everyone for coming out. She left Houston with her local fans crossing their fingers that she'd be back for the Teenage Dream Tour with Houston selected as on of the many stops that she'd be the opener for KP.

The windmills added a great effect. When the strobes would go on the windmills would glow in the dark, her band were dressed like scientist & there were two drum sets set side by side...the drummers were on the same timing & were so awesome! This set was great. By the way, check out those shoes....they really do put the Spice Girls to shame. Robyn bounced the entire stage for two hours in those babies!
