CHIC OF THE WEEK

Kirsten Henderson works a look that clearly states summer chic. Her look is incredibly comfortable and effortlessly lovely. Hats are the best accessory for changing up a look, or adding volume to flat hair...we've all had those days!

'I'm a combination of Charlotte York and Carrie Bradshaw. I love classic silhouettes mixed up with interesting color combinations or weird accessories. And even though this picture is close up it's always all about the shoes!' -Kirsten

'The dress and hat are both from Target, the necklace is mexican moonstone purchased in Cozumel, and the belt is 80's vintage (stolen from my mother's closet). The shoes are Kenneth Cole Reaction.

Flavor of the Week

The trends are veering towards casual chic. Always being comfortable. More cottons, button down structured t-shirt dresses, linens, earthy tones mixed with an added pop of orange or lime green. Connecting with the subtle and making it spark with a pop of color.

Other trends coming out are mixing patterns, mixing stripes with stripes. Keeping it cool and casual yet chic in cottons or jersey mesh fabrics and belting it to keep a figure.

Here are a few examples of items & trends I love now:

Nicole Miller mixing a comfortable outfit with a pop of color... the outfit featured in last month's Glamour magazine. The Nicole Miller Collection sheer top with a lime green bra underneath. A great example of the trends to come.

Stripe on Stripes

A great example of this combined look is the new White House Black Market 'Striped Ponte Sheath Dress.'
White House Black Market / Striped Ponte Shealth Dress

This dress is a perfect example of the trends now. Although it's comfortable and made of cotton the structure gives it a great poise. Comfortable & functional! Great for work or a night out to dinner with the girls!

....paired with the new Isobel Toledo 'Striped Vamp' shoes available at Payless.

Even the colors are reversed in stripes from the dress to shoe (dress is white stripes on black, shoes are black stripes on white) giving it an alluring texture & depth to your attire.

Beauty products of the week

I have come across some great products here recently from Origins. One of them being Modern Friction™

It is a great exfoliator/dermabrasion! Made with Rice Starch it's not rough on my skin. Use maybe 2 or 3 times a week. Incorporate it into your skin regimen after cleansing for smooth skin.

"Sand-blasting skin with coarse, chemical crystals? How painfully passé. Here’s age-smoothing exfoliation without irritation. Skin-refining Rice Starch, cushioned in cream, shows real affinity for rapidly removing sluggish cells, uneven patches and signs of skin damage and discolorations. Lemon Oil kick starts the process of illumination. Another age-sweeping action: skin-menacing molecules are mopped up. All while Aloe keeps skin calm and comfy. There’s no ouch, extra steps or other complications. No redness or flaking follows. The before-and-afters are amazing. Signs of fine lines and size of pores appear to shrink in size. Skin looks perfectly polished, smooth and luminous. And the perk-me-up aromas of Bergamot and Peppermint help you look on the bright side." - Origins

If you haven't already incorporated a facial mask into your skin regimen once a week you should consider Origins Clear Improvement® Mask. I am usually so sensitive to mask and this one was fantastic!

"When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin looks cloudy. Nature's complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skins overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins, Lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that "stuff" down there, skin "breathes a sigh of relief." - Origins
