Anthropologie Fashion Show

Anthropologie hosted a fashion show premiering the top trends in store for the spring and summer season.

The current trend of bold colors combined with patterns and different material textures made an appearance on the runway.

Guests were treated to champagne and macaroons while browsing the store for the looks that hit the runway. Stylist catered to those who attended with complimentary stylings.

My favorite accessory from the show? The Baripada necklace; a bold combination of bright yellows, orange and coral-beaded strands, which are covered in a fabric that makes a lovely combination. This is perfect over a solid shirt and jeans, or topped over a dress for a night out.

Spring Apparel | Statement Pieces

What transitional statement pieces should you carry from your fall wardrobe into your spring wardrobe to get even more use out of your apparel?

Leather Apparel

This spring bold colors are key - if you have a black leather skirt, spring it up with a shirt that is bold in color to add pizzazz.

Don't wear leather on leather - add texture with a shirt that is a different material. Cotton or silk shirts added to your leather skirt will pull off the look this spring.

Whitney wears the look of the season - a leather skirt and pairs it with a lovely striped sweater topped off with an oversized bow. This look is adorable and can work both in the office and ready to wear - for dinner, or a casual meeting.

Bright and Colorful

Pair bold patterns with neutral colors. If you have a bright and colorful blouse - combine it with a sleek skirt to pull your look together.

If in the office, add minimal accessories.

If out on the town, add bold accessories.

Spring Trends | Polka Dots

Polka dots are bold and have appeared as the trend in numerous fashion shows this season. Polka dots have also been paired with stripes and bold colors for the spring.
The trend appeared on the runway in Stella McCartney's Winter 2011 fashion show and is making its way into the summer 2012 collection.
Find the polka dot trend at Target or at Macy's and wear it casually to work with slacks or dress it up for dinner with a high waisted skirt.
Stripes are also a big trend for the spring. Even though our mothers always told us not to wear horizontal stripes they are big right now and are flattering depending how the shirt is structured and worn.
Which stores are housing the trend right now? Anthropologie and BCBG Max Azria seem to be big fans as stripes and the color block trend are shuffled throughout the store.
Although stripes and stripes are okay on the runway, wear your stripes with a solid staple piece. If you're wearing a striped or polka dot top, pair the trend with a solid skirt - in a bold color or for a classy feel - black.

Summer is right around the corner, and as you shop, take notice of the bright colors luring in the season.
There are red pants, bold patterns, corals and flirty hues of bold, bright colors. Pull the trend into your wardrobe by first adding a hat, pants or a shirt of solid color - just a piece of the trend.
Pull polka dots into play with a bright pair of pants or a whimsical bold pattern by topping it off with a solid denim jacket or solid-colored vest.
This trend is fun with aviator sunglasses and strappy sandals. A fun look for the beach, work or play, this trend is casual and can be dressy if worn in a structured way.
Kitson, a store in Los Angeles, models the coming season's fashion perfectly as they already have the trend on the floor. The perfect combination of polka dots, bold colors and vibrant patterns fill the boutique with summer's hottest styles.

Jet Setting Apparel

Packing for spring break isn't always as glamorous as the destination. Here is packing made easy for your spring getaway.

Rolling is always better than folding; it is better for your apparel, too, keeping everything compact.

For apparel, instead of packing several outfits, pack a few items. Solids can always be switched out and dresses always do the trick. When you pack dresses you've got several outfits.

Why? Because accessories always change up the look - make sure your accessories are coming along for the ride.

As for shoes, take two or three pairs of shoes - two for dressing up in case of a nice dinner or a night out on the town, and one for climbing, hiking and for the all-day walks.

Wherever you're going this spring, check for weather conditions during your travel. You may need to include boots or, in case of rain, don't pack authentic leather or suede shoes.

Making the Team

Houstonians love their football team, and rumor has it, there are new fans in Victoria since local twins Dresdynn and Schuyler Warnell are on the Houston Texans cheerleading squad.
While watching the games, we can see the Texans Cheerleaders have a style of their own.


As we approach new cheerleader tryouts in April, girls all over Texas are preparing their wardrobe for the big day.Think you have what it takes to become a Houston Texans Cheerleader? Follow some savvy tips to help you on your way.

Schuyler Warnell gives a quick tip to hopefuls trying out this year:
"Go into tryouts - or whichever team it may be - with confidence. Confidence is the key that will set you apart from the rest," she said.


You have to stand out and look unique. Choose a dance costume that is easy to move in and, most importantly, stand out in. Select a color that best complements your hair color and skin tone.
