Made in Italia

Beautiful stores align the streets of Palermo nestled into little niches with quality handwork that is truly unique, fresh, and something you must keep an eye out for. One of many boutiques to start your chic boutique tour is located off of Via Alloro.

Back in this little alley lies a boutique featuring local designers work including jewelry made completely out of recycled materials. The pieces are relatively cheap running around 28 euro each. The pieces are made by the local brand Redo.

WHERE TO SHOP | PALERMO

Palermo located in Sicilia Italia may not be a fashion capital but when touring through the city make sure you step in to this lovely department store.

La Rinascente is by far one of the best stores in Palermo. Incredibly similar to Nordstrom instead representing Italia's best designers and those imported from the US (which you can skip because it these are easily accessible at home and double the price in Italia).

One of my favorite brands in store which is actually from Spain; Desigual. The designs are amazing, fun and colorful. Desigual is very similar to Oilily

The shoe department at Nordstrom is one of my favorite go-to's - that is exactly how La Rinascente's handbag department is. Lovely bags, and shoes are right on top of the handbags - how can you resist? Here is the Love Moschino shoulder bag - gorgeous and perfect for my travels!

A rare find in Taormina, Sicily: Daneau

After attending the Taormina Film Festival I began to venture out into the shops of Taormina, Sicily. Picturesque as a romantic movie and enchanting as Disney World is to a kid. There is always something amazing around every corner.

I would like to introduce to you a little store as enchanting as Taormina: Daneu.

Daneu has lovely table runners, hand towels, napkins, eclectic and gorgeous glasses, ceramics, and other little knick knacks for the home that you shouldn't miss.

Start your trip off with a visit to the store for a charming & proper welcome to Taormina.

Just to stop into the store to visit with the owner, Ms. Adriane Daneau is an absolute delight. She is an amazing person to sit and visit with as browsing the lovely items and merchandise in the store. Daneau has been in the family since 1885 and still hosts visitors and clients from all around the world.

Former clients of the store have been that of Stanley Marcus, former President of Neiman Marcus, whom purchased  puppets from  Daneau which were then given to the University of Texas theatre department.

Daneau had already made an impression on Texas.  So I got a little piece of Texas on the trip in Taormina, and became friends with the store owner who always had a story to tell and no matter the weather, always a smile on her face. It was always such a pleasure to visit with Adriane.

If you find yourself in Taormina stop into Daneau for a lovely visit - because the people and the store are always delightful!

There have been so many visitors to the store she may have a story from your state! Enjoy your stay in Sicily!
You saw it here first on Flavor of the Week. Buon Viaggio! Enjoy.
